SUPPORTING HUMANITY IN A VERY SPECIAL WAY

As a unique and vital part of the Masonic fraternal family, Daughters of the Nile in the United States and Canada join hands across the border to work together in Friendship, Charity and Truth. Our philanthropic efforts are focused on the patients of Shriners Hospitals for Children, a one-of-a-kind international health care system of 22 hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs. Children up to the age of 18 with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered environment at no charge – regardless of financial need.

The Supreme Temple, Daughters of the Nile Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public corporation which maintains a permanent endowment fund to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children. All monetary donations promote, support and maintain the philanthropic endeavors that enhance the medical care and treatment of the patients in the Shriners Hospitals for Children. A Canadian Trust provides the same support to the Canadian Shriners Hospital.

Due to the generosity of the members, their families and friends, Daughters of the Nile has achieved Gold Plaques in all of the twenty-two Shriners Hospitals for Children. These contributions represent nearly 45 Million dollars since 1924 when our philanthropy was established.

Working Together for the Children

The Daughters of the Nile Foundation makes it possible for the Daughters of the Nile to contribute 1.5 Million dollars annually to the twenty-two Shriners Hospitals for Children. This effort is realized from the accumulation of contributions directly to the Foundation, through the Stepping Stones to Happiness Certificate program, and the My Gift Incentive Program.

Supreme Charitable Giving Committee

The Supreme Charitable Giving Committee introduced the Incentive Program in June of 1997. This has proven to be a very worthwhile way to educate, instruct and to enthuse individuals to participate in our philanthropy.

The My Gift Incentive Program

The My Gift Incentive Program is a means for members and friends of Daughters of the Nile contribute a specific monetary gift, while receiving a gift in return. This is a combined awareness and fund-raising program. It provides an incentive to contribute, an awareness of our philanthropy, and each contribution not only helps increase the principal in the CEF, but it also helps accumulate more interest/income for the children. The My Gift Incentive Program has served the Convalescent Endowment Fund well, inasmuch as the CEF is the engine that drives our philanthropic efforts.
